Day 111 & 112 - Blue Polka Dots and Gray Eights

Missed posting yesterday. Had a tiring trip to the grocery store. Carrying in groceries in the winter isn't fun. Made up for the lack of grocery fun by going out to Mexico Lindo for dinner with Steph. Had some Sangria and of course, Chips and Queso. Ended up playing some cards and Apples to Apples afterwards. A good time for sure. Haven't really done anything yet today past cooking lunch and some reading.

Time for Friday's Top Five. I'm a day late, but whatever. So here goes: Top Five Things I Most Frequently Buy at Grocery Store

1. Diet Pepsi - I could die without it. Usually get cans and 24oz bottles.

2. Bananas - I don't think I have ever been to the store without buying a bunch of bananas. I eat at least one a day.

3.  Mushrooms - Even if a recipe doesn't call for them I add them. Anything that has vegetables can benefit from some mushrooms. Got a package of wild mushrooms this time to make a Mushroom soup this week. I always buy the whole mushroooms instead of the sliced.  Feel like they are more versatile since I can cut them in whatever size I want.

4. Cheese - I always buy at least one bag of shredded cheese. Yesterday I bought 3. I mostly get the Chedder and the Mexican blends. Really cheese makes EVERYTHING better.

5. Chicken Broth - Lately I find myself buying it every time I go since I have been making so many soups. I use it in a lot of my Weight Watchers recipes too.

Day 110 - Pink Snowflakes

Dealing with the aftermath of yesterday's blizzard. Done a lot of shoveling since I last wrote. Did about an hour yesterday, then another hour this morning. The car has finally been dug out and the porch cleared off. There's a snow pile shoulder high on the side of my porch. It's obscene. My street doesn't get plowed as much or as well as the other streets. There's no place for the plow to turn around and no one really has a yard to put the snow in. It's ridiculous. I only hope it heats up soon so the snow will melt.  The forecast doesn't look promising tho.

Caught quite a few episodes of I Shouldn't Be Alive lately. It's a show about people who overcome some pretty extraordinary circumstances and come out alive. Mostly they are stories about adventure people who climb isolated mountains, try to boat across dangerous waters, or do something naturey all alone. I feel confident I won't be in those situations cause I never intend to spend a month rafting through the grand canyon alone or climbing an ice mountain. Those people are crazy, but at least I've learned how to survive if I need to.

Timer is buzzing. Baked Mac and Cheese with Broccoli is ready. Yummy!

Day 109 - Blue Cats

Dedicating today's blog to my Mia. 6 years ago today I brought her home from the SPCA. She became my very first pet. The day I brought her home she hid under my bed and stayed there for almost 2 weeks. She'd creep out at night to eat, but rarely when I was in the room. Eventually she got used to her new home and me. I remember the very first time she crawled on my lap and cuddled with me. It was almost 4 months. I'd been away on vacation for 10 days. I was on the couch catching up on my TV when she crawled on my lap. Nowadays as soon as I sit down, Mia wants to be on my lap. She is such a big part of my life. Almost every night she's sleeping my side.

Six years ago I never would have predicted that a cat could change my life so much, but she has. I feel like having Mia has made me a happier person. Every day she's here when I get home. She depends on me. I am her Mommy.  And if it wasn't for Mia I wouldn't have gotten my boys, Miles and Simon. Together the four of us are a family.  I love my kitties. And I love my Mia!

Some pictures of my bestest little girl.

Day 107 - Black, Blue, and Pink Plaid

These socks were part of my Christmas present from my sister. I actually have another pair exactly like them, but there's no such thing as too many socks. Duh!

Not too much happening today. Ran a few errands this morning. Used my new Envirosteamer to mop the apartment. Works super good. Don't think I'll go back to a regular mop any time soon. The cats were just as scared of it as they are with the vacuum, even though it barely makes any noise.

Have a book to finish this afternoon. Decided to read the Millenium Trilogy since it's been all the rage. On book two, The Girl Who Played With Fire. They aren't bad. Not my favoritest books every writte but they hold my interest. I do plan on checking out the thrid volume once I get through the other 8 books I have from the library. Up next Molly Ringwald's Getting the Pretty Back.

Day 106 - Elmo

These are hand me downs from Bridget. Don't know why she had socks like this but whatever.

Spent some quality time cleaning the apartment today. I was in desperate need. It had been before Christmas. Must have spent 3 hours dusting, cleaning windows, bathroom, kitchen, and vacuuming. Cleaning is tiring that's for sure. Rewarding myself with pizza for dinner. It arrived as I was writing this. This was my first time ordering from Alfredo's. Pizza was definitely good. I ordered proscuttio, mushrooms and basil. Yummy!

Looks like it's about bed time for me. I can't stop yawning.

Day 105 - Striped Sleep Socks

Spent the day taking down Christmas decorations. It looks so un-festive in here now : (

Mia's vet appointment on Friday went well. She's a healthy little girl with all her shots updated. She does need to lose a little weight though. Need to work on that. In other Mia news, I think she's afraid of fire. Had a fire for most of the afternoon. The whole time it's roaring she hides under the bed. She won't even come into the living room. This has happened every time I've had a fire. The boys are much more brave. They don't get too close but the act like normal. Just don't know what Miss Mia's issue is. I wonder if she had some traumatic fire experience before I adopted her. Thinking about that makes me sad. I hope no one hurt my sweet girl in the 6 months of her life she wasn't with me. Well at least she's happy here when there's no fire.
